Success- my Eldorado is running on it's new fuel tank.

In the end, I actually used the Caddy sending unit with an extremely minor adjustment to the angle of the pickup sock.  I did this because the Toronado sending unit uses a pin for the lead versus a threaded connection and I did not want to cut my cars sending unit lead.  Further research also indicated the oldsmobile sending unit is 90 ohm versus 95 ohm for the caddy unit which (I think) would result in a different gauge reading.

Filler neck was simple- just needed to be cut and shortened 7/8" from the horizontal portion so it was not under the bumper.  I tack welded the neck baffle back together after shortening and slid it together into the tank.  I used a 2" ID rubber tube from tanks.com to connect the two filler neck pieces.

Took it for a 40 mile loops and topped the tank off.  All good!  Overall it looks pretty good in my non-concours car.

Now to figure out why my four barrels aren't opening... :)

Glad you were able to find a workaround. I'm sure it saved a few $$$ too.

Be careful or maybe even carry a gas can the first time you run it down.  When I did mine I ended up running it out.  Luckily I was reasonable walking distance from a gas station but it still kinda sucked and wasn't the safest for me and the car.
