Ok, stupid question---
Are those open for anyone to walk around?
The one in New Jersey is close to my uncle. I know he would love to walk around there, but he isn't a member, and doesn't have a car.
Can anyone go in and look around?

Thanks

As far as I know anyone can walk around and look at the cars on display. They draw plenty of attention from everyone.

I think it would be detrimental to new membership if a person were to be denied a walk to look at the cars.

Many years ago, on the Forum, there was a long discussion about "restricting" access to the show fields. As I remember the gist of the discussions, there were several rather paranoid members being deathly afraid that their car might be vandalized or otherwise "hurt" while on display to the "unwashed" public.

At this late date, I can't remember the responses, but I may have (or someone else) posted a reply that may have asked, "Do you want us to erect a fence and have armed guards with German Shepherd along with them on 24 hour patrol?"

Cooler heads prevailed, and to date, I have never heard of any member's car being damaged at a GN.

So yes, a guest is certainly welcome at the GN show field. Just don't sit your three year old on the hood or trunk for a picture, or get close enough to damage the paint with a metal belt buckle.

I don't know what the above three posts have to do with weather, but if that front comes in early we'll have rain on Friday.

We don't have a Grand National scheduled for New Jersey. Next year is Concord, North Carolina; 2027 is Reno, Nevada; 2028 is Dayton, Ohio.

Actually, fair enough.
It is the Raritan region's show. My apologies.
I will leave my comment here tho because of the responses.
However I will remove if you want me to.

To my knowledge the show field is open to the public on the day(s) of the judging.

When the GN was in West Des Moines in 2005 or so I was told no, not open to the public.  I was not a member.

While the weather forecast has no temperature above 87 or so that to this 61 year old is TOO HOT for early June!

Years ago, 45 years ago when I was 16, in Iowa the heat and humidity would kick in around July 1-15. And be done by Sept 10.  Now it's going to be 85-88 here this weekend and we will be dialed in at that until October.

Welcome to normal Earth changes. The scheming greenies are shrewd enough to make billions off of it, even when their 12mpg carbureted Cadillac is touring the countryside on its way to a Grand National.

It looks like another beautiful day at the Grand National today. High temperatures will be in the upper 80's and chances of rain will be at near zero. Though a spotty shower can never be ruled out, but not likely.

Enjoy all! The past month here has been horrible. The Cadillac Gods are smiling down at us.

It was mid 80s on the driving tour yesterday, mild (compared to Florida) humidity, bright and sunny.

When we left Lynchburg 2pm), I put the digital IR thermo on various interior parts. I got between 122 - 148 F on the seats, door panels, etc!

Now imagine how hot that would be back in Florida!. That's why I have all the glass on all my cars tinted.

More like while they fly around in private jets...

There is plenty of green at the GN site, and that includes maple several maple and other trees to drop sap onto our cars...

I got stuck in a spot that is only shaded by the building in the morning. I have to cover the steering wheel and dash in the afternoon.

Yes, your car will get scorched. Happens to me all the time at home. At least its not under a tree!

As for the tree sap problems, I took the Fleetwood to a car wash this morning and it got everything cleaned off in a single pass through the wash. I'll let others know. The car was was only 3 miles down the road. The little wash area behind the hotel might also suffice, but my war was covered with it. It has its cover back on until Friday.

It looks to be a nice day today out on the show field. The expected front took a turn to the North and is going to pass north of Nashville. (We're SE of Nashville here) Still too early to tell what the one behind it will do.

Keep your fingers crossed folks!

Anyone here at the GN that is reading these posts, it looks like the afternoon storm that was expected is falling apart. It looks like the worst we can expect up until 18:00 this afternoon may be a quick sprinkle.

Other than that, just light clouds keeping the sun from burning your hide!
