I'm hoping someone has a picture or drawing of the transmission cooler lines in the installed position.  I'm trying to figure out which one installs in the top and bottom at the trans side and where the run.  I think they run next to the oil pan and over the top of the front cross member together before one of them bends toward the driver side, but would greatly appreciate some confirmation.  I think my lines might have a few "extra" bends from storage, so I need to figure out if I need to straighten anything out.  It's a 1961 series 62 convertible with original trans.

Here are some images. These are from an AC car. But I am not sure how they are different. I believe both the trans and Radiator are the same.

There are two clamps. one is at the trans inspection cover. The other is at a front oil pan bolt.

Where the lines pass under the front of the engine and frame The lines bend to the passenger side.

Wouldn't the lines on an A/C car be just a little longer? The radiator sits forward of the support to make room for the shroud.

I ask, because it was 20 odd years ago I did this. More just confirming I still have a little memory left. Or maybe a '61 doesn't utilize that radiator position.

If that were true then it would also have different brackets for the radiator to core support.

@Clewisiii Great Photos, as usual.  Thank you.
Who did you use for your new lines?

Clewisiii

I used Inline Tube. As you can see they are close but not perfect. I had to add the upturn bend coming out from under the motor. And the short pieces attached to the radiator are a little different. Plus mine is the AC version. Again I have no idea specifically what is different to none AC.

I read somewhere that the AC car used a larger tube than the non-AC car, but I have no idea how valid that is.  My car was a non-AC originally so I guess I could measure the OD of the line an we can compare notes.

Carl, this may have changed in 1961. Prior to that in the 59/60 cars, the radiator was on the engine side of the support for non-a/c cars and yes, the mounting brackets were reversed on the A/C cars. The radiator was mounted on the outside of the support. The lower hose connection was angled differently and there was now room for the fan shroud which wasn't needed for a non-a/c car. The fan was also 5 blades instead of 4 and of course the crank and water pump pulleys were 3 grooves instead of two.

Looks like many changes from the 60 to 61 model years. Out of the 61 and 62 cars, the 61 looks better IMHO.

@Clewisiii if I'm interpreting the photos correctly the 2lines run side by side from the Tran to the front oil pan bolt.  From there the passenger side line bends away. Is that correct?  Do the lines run between the starter and the oil pan?
Thanks for all the photos, they're already help.

This is the mount under the starter bump in the trans bell housing.

This is what the mounting tab under the starter looks like. It is a point on the trans inspection cover behind the starter.

So they pass on the outside of the starter, and not between the starter and the oil pan.  So then they turn back toward the engine where they go through the bracket on the front of the oil pan, and then over the front cross member where they fork.  Thanks again for the help.
