Eric CLC #21430

Hi guys.
Im looking at possibly buying a 52 Series 62 4 door that appears to be in pretty good shape.  Engine and tranny have both been rebuilt no rust, looks pretty solid.
Right now the car is painted black, which I know isnt the original color.  The color code on the tag indicates it is Nassau Blue, 5.  The trim code is 43, and Im not sure what color that is.  The dash is a dark blue on top and the insert area is a lighter blue, which leads me to believe the dash colors are correct.  Does that correspond to trim 43?
Also, how does the trim code relate to the carpet?  Were the carpets matching colors also?  It has a blue carpet, but Im not sure if it is original.
Thanks,
Eric

Eric,

Looking at the Master Parts Book, The paint code #5 is indeed Nassau Blue. Unfortunately, The Interior colors are only listed for the years 55 and up. I can tell you that that your dash colors sound correct. Usually on the early 50s Cadillacs, the interior usually matched the exterior color. Your carprt color was most likly the same blue as your dash. I have a 53 Coupe that is two tone green. Light green below, dark green roof. The dash is dark green, with the middle strip light green. This continues on to the door trim. The seats are the same, dark and light green. The carpet, dark green. The steering wheel and column also follow the same pattern. Your wheel and column should be blue. Hope this helps you somewhat. I have some photos if you like.

Here is part of the story from a 1957 Master parts. Trim Codes 42 &43 are Blue. The following instrument panel, door and door quarter panels and ash tray retainer were Duchess Blue (dupont 1267) on the face, and Persian blue (dupont 1269) on the inserts. THe winshied garnish ,door garnish &front door window divider were Duchess blue.  THe steering column jacket, covers, horn ring hub and spokes, and transmisson shifter carrier, hydromatic dail retainer, signal switch housing,,and cluster housing are also all Duchess blue.
For the soft goods you will need a 52 to55 book. Warren

Seat & backrest material is light blue figured cloth and dark blue plain broadcloth, Sidewall is ;ight blue plain broadcloth & dark blue broadcloth, Headliner light blue cloth, Carpet Blue
