Hello Friends !

I am looking for a really professional shop in the San Jose/Bay Area (California) to do a complete rebuild of the 429 engine from my 64 Cadillac Series 62 Coupe.

I would appreciate some references if anyone knows of any shops in this area.

Thanks for your interest.

Jack.

Hi Jack.

Im researching a rebuild on my 65 429, and Ive heard really positive things about Jasper Engines (http://www.jasperengines.com/).  They have a great process, a great warranty and great references.

Theyll cost you $500-$800 more than a local shop, but I think the warranty and reputation are worth the premium.

They also have an expansive nationwide network of affiliated install shops, so you could almost certainly find someone locally (Im in Albany, NY and have a shop withing 10 miles).

Good luck with your rebuild.

Hi Mike,

I agree Jaspers process is very impressive and I wish they still worked on 429s but if you go to their site you will find out that they do not work on the 429 now.

Thanks anyway for the hint !

Hi Jack.

I checked with my contact at Jasper, and they will still re-machine your 429 for you if you have one already.  They just dont stock complete re-manfactured 429s.

Below is their exact reponse - hope this helps.

Mike

"We are still remanufacturing the 1959-67 429 cid units on a custom basis only. If there is no core that can be given to us, then we can not reproduce the unit. We no longer have exchange units on hand due to the year model and rarity of good, usable cores. However, if there is an existing core that can be sent into us, then we can remanufacture it.

There is generally a 7-10 day turnaround for any custom work, this may or may not include shipping time.

Hopefully this clarifies things."

Hi Mike

Well, thanks for the news about Jasper - I had about given up !

Now we have to arrange for the removal of the engine and the logistics of shipping.

Will keep you informed as to the progress.

Thanks again,

Jack

Ill bet those 1959-1963 429s are rare indeed!
