Greeting all,
I went under the 56 Cadillac over the weekend and adjusted the linkage. Welded up the holes and drilled them to get the slop out of the linckage rods to the transmission,it still rolls in "park".
Any thoughts?
Is this a job for the Transmission shop or something I may be able to fix without taking out the transmission?
Eric

Eric, if you remove the oil pan of the transmission, you can have a look at the mechanism. If you have to remove it, no need to take the transmission out of the car: you just have to remove the valve body. A shop manual is a good help, the mechanism is well described.
Good luck! Roger

Hi Roger,
I took your advise and opened it up.
I went under and removed the pan and noticed the park mechanizm
was missing a linkage pin.
Put on the rubber gloves and reached in the fluid...there it was.
Someone forgot to put the cotter pin on.
All fixed.
Thanks for the help, Eric

Hi Eric,
Good to know that you found the trouble without to spend a fortune to solve it.
Happy motoring,
Roger
