49 Cadillac rear shock extensions

[49 Caddy]

  Received my rear shock extension bushings from Caddy Daddy and don't know how I am supposed to install.  They are bigger than the opening ends and will not fit.  Tried to fold up and that does not work either.  Silicone will not do the trick.  Only thing I can see to do is grind one side of the opening and use a washer to hold that side in place.  Center bore appears to be big enough if I can get it past the ends.  Anybody run into this issue?
