WAldrons' is fine. $1100 is a bit spendy.  No doubt of the quality and they fall together.  They say their  "Imposter"systems have a throatier sound, however the wait time is three months for a "built to order" part. Do you really need a stainless system for a car stored in a garage and only driven in nice weather.

CarPartsUSA, among others list a direct fit, weld in muffler for the '50. If you have a welder or a buddy who can weld it in, might be an option. That will only work if the head pipe and intermediate pipe, if installed or tail pipe are good. As your muffler is trashed I'm sure the head pipe and intermediate pipe have some  too. Rust and MIG or gas welding don't mix well. It's seldom a blown out or rusted muffler alone can be successfully replaced. HASn't been my experience anyway. Maybe in the south, and southwest and far west but not in the Land of Iron Worms.

How will it sound? I,dunno. anyone remember? Maybe watch a Cary Grant, Doris Day movie from the fifties and try to get an idea. However starting and sounds of a car starting and leaving a movie scene are enhanced using a Foley sound generator in post production.

Second option is the buy a universal muffler and  hand pipe expander, and  do it yourself  using alloy band clamps to secure it. It may take a couple of couplers to get everything aligned properly.

Third and obvious, is to go to a shop and have them install a universal fit. It may require some custom fitting however. It's going to cost what it costs.

Yes, I saw that they do. Perhaps I should have included that information  However I couldn't find a model specific muffler listed for a '50 62 Series Cad. Closest was one for a sixties Eldorado which lists for $332-$554

I'm sure they can make one. Maybe worth a phone call to check availability.

I take my 1949 Cad to a local muffler shop here in Atlanta when mine wears out. The shhop made up an entire exhaust system with a generic muffler they had in stock.  A problem I had was that the original muffler was just under the passenger's side of the front seat which warmed up the floor board.  Insulation had not helped, so the muffler shop moved the muffler further back in such a way that it was also not as close to the floorboard. It's not authentic, but it can't be seen.

Here's an undercarriage shot of my 50 showing how it should look.  This is an AACA National Senior winner so it's at min a 390-point car.  Hope this helps you find a muffler that's cost effective and works.  Should barely hear it run when its running.

I think Waldrons buys their mufflers from a place in Canada.   Exhaust hangers is another matter. I worked with Grant in New Zealand to make a correct hanger set for my 61. He already made a set for 59-60 that had a a lot of similar components. It was only one new hanger and one modification to a hanger he already made.

I have grants on my 59 and LOVE em!  Perfect fit!  Does he do earlier years?  I'm going to Waldrons my 50 because shes starting to show age there.

Forgot to mention Classic Exhaust. THey make complete systems for the '50 62 Series.

THeir complete systems are about 30% less than Waldron and include hangers.

Worth a call to find out if they sell parts and pieces separately.

A NOS muffler for all 50-51 Cadillacs is for sale by  my friend Marc Ohm. This is a new muffler, not aftermarket, that is among spare parts Marc is selling for me, as I no longer need. To contact Marc, call 314-494-3706, or 636-398-8810, or email at msoohmemail addresses not permitted.
The original mufflers produce a very quiet tone, not always true of reproductions.
