That guys been trying to sell it for years! My opinion: it looks like a seventies Vega in the front. I'll take my white 68 slick top any day. Bob

Where are the photos of the sides tail treatment and interior?  Not too sure what I think till I see it all. Im not in love with the color. I find the chic-est ones of this style to me are the 67's without a vinyl top in a light metallic color.. Shows those great lines off better in my book.

Otto Skorzeny

I sent him an email requesting that he post more photos. We'll see what happens.

He added a lot more photos to the ebay listing. It's sort of interesting.

I'm glad to see more pics, but WHERE did that Phaeton emblem  on the deck lid come from? Could someone ask him to post a pic of the data plate? Other than some paint work, I see nothing special about the car. Bob

There's a place on the ebay ad where it says "ask seller a question". The auction ends tomorrow so better ask fast.

You're right a very ordinary car in a wild color ..one I wouldnt have used.. with a modified nose treatment period.  I cant see where the plaque means very much.  Could the Phaeton Logo be from a 79 Canvas roof trim package?  Id rather have your nice looking Bismark..

I wonder what Yann has to say of this car is. Is it unique? Yes. Is it historically significant? Maybe, maybe not. Did GM make a big t'ado about it when it was built?

StylishOne,

Yes, you are correct.  The "Phaeton" logos on the trunk and headlight cover are from the optional Phaeton package offered by Cadillac in 1978 and 1979.

I never heard of it until it appeared on Ebay.  I included all the photos of it, from the first sale attempt, in the "Dream Cars" section of the Cadillac Database, 1968. So far as I know, neither GM nor Cadillac made any statements about this "modified" 1968 Eldo at the time it was so "modified".  IMHO Bill Mitchell just did a friend a favor; this was no GM/Cadillac styling exercise, nor fancy prototype, nor special order custom job, unlike the 1968 "Towne Car" design that year.

I too would like a peek at the body tag.

As the car was customised for a friend, it wouldn't have much in the way of "Papers".

But, from correspondence with the owner' Son, years ago, he has the proof.
