I'm looking for two good rims that spin true. My spare rims have a wobble  and those I've found on eBay have no assurance they are any better.
Please contact me directly at rfm45@optonline.net

Thanks,
Ralph

You may have already considered this but in case you haven't; Your existing rims can probably be straightened and trued locally for less money than you would spend for two  new ones of unknown quality.

With the recent popularity of aftermarket custom wheels on cars of all kinds, there are more businesses catering to wheel repair. Steel rims are usually fairly easy to true since they don't distort and break as easily as the alloy types. Check your yellow pages or advertisements in the local newspapers, etc - especially the free weekly ones like Creative Loafing, etc. I'm sure you will find a good shop to do the work.

ottoskorzensky,

Thanks for the suggestion. I've done a quick search and haven't found one who will work on steel wheels. So far, everyone specializes in alloy wheels. I can't believe there's enough business for all these shops. The competition must be fierce or people are driving around bumping into every rut and gully they can find…..will continue.
Thanks,
Ralph

I have a slight wobble in two of my 47's rims.  I talked with the big mag shop here in Denver (Performance Wheel and Tire), and they said they can re-true them, so that's on my to do list sometime.  Don't give up hope of getting them back in round.

That's my experience here in Atlanta too, Ralph. There are wheel repair places all over. The problem with the custom wheels is that most are for the low profile tires. These tires give very little protection to the rim itself.

The sidewalls don't bulge out beyond the edge of the rim and the aspect ratio is next to nothing (sidewall height). This means that ordinary driving beats the daylights out of the rims. Add in the fact that the wheels aren't made of steel but of some weaker alloy and you get nicks, gouges, warping, etc. in greater frequency than you ever did with plain steel wheels.

Keep looking, you'll find somebody that can do it, I'm sure.

HI,
You can always use rims from a 69 up if your not worried about originality and their just for spares they should be fine, you just can't use 66-68 on 69 up because they'll rub on front catipilers. You may even be able to go older than 66 also.
