HI;

My Wife Judy has decided to do a Frame-Off Resto, and is looking for a '51-'53 Cadillac 2 Door Hardtop, preferably a '53. Since we have done these before, the last one being the El Camino, we are more than capable.

Looking for a solid 'Roller', with a good frame, repairable/replateable/restorable interior and exterior chrome/trim. Interior doesn't matter, and we will install a new crate motor and trans. in it.

She is watching all of the websites, and has found a few "Basket Cases", and that's not how we want to start off with on her project.

Remember, she collects Cinderella, so this will be a 'Caddy For Cinderella‘. She wants to paint it black, but in her Heart, it should end up pink or blue, maybe?????

NOTE: Since we're selling the '69 El Camino LSR car anyway, maybe we should sell it as a 'Roller', and install a near 500HP Motor in her Cadillac?????

Give Virginia Davis a call, this car may be a good candidate for you...saving you a lot of dis-assembly work.

We have made telephone contact with Virginia. She is taking new pictures and sending them to us. She thought the relatives of Don might be able to take digital pics and send them to us thru email when they return from a trip or (?).

We are going to need to have someone tell us more about the car, and the actual condition. I can find someone thru our racing contacts, or ask someone in the Cadillac Lesalle Club to inspect the car while I have them on the phone. We will pay any expenses they might incur for their time and travels.

I will email you tomorrow or Monday if you aren't able to respond to this post.

Thanks again,

The car was brought to the attention of the CLC Museum & Research Center by Virginia Davis who was Don's fiance. Don Carrico was a former National President of the CLC .  I have not seen the car in person other than by photos taken, we listed the car on the forum as a favor to the family.  Hoping to find it a good home.

MAXX....current CLC President Glen Brown lives in the Chicago area, he may be able to help you find someone from that local region to view car in person.

We will contact him today. Thanks again so much for helping out on this, and thanks for the great site.

It's very possible this may be the car we need/want, as stated before, we have done frame-off restorations before.

OK, here's where we are at this time. Received great pics from Virginia, with explanations on the back of each picture. She wrote us a note that she didn't take a pic of the front fenders, but they are both there. What we don't see is the front grill/bullets (Dagmars?), but do see pics of other trimwork. We honestly can't tell if bumpers and other items may or may not have been rechromed. The exterior trim is still on the car, so it's not redone. Shop equip. pics show misc. items. The condition of the frame, the floors, and the trunk are very important to us, as are any areas of rust around the rocker panels and lower areas related to the body itself.

It will cost us quite a bit to travel back to that area, so you see why we need this inspection. If we do purchase the car, we most likely will take our newest Nascar Race Car back to Tennessee to have the new race motor installed in it, so it makes the trip worth while.

Soooooooooooooo---

We definitely need someone to spend a few hours inspecting the car, and we will have to be on the phone with that person during part(s) of that inspection. We will pay your expenses.

Hi Guys and Gals;

Have decided to not make a trip that far without knowing the actual condition of the car itself, so we sent the pictures back to Virginia and the $$$ to cover her postage for sending them to us. Thank you Virginia for your time.

It appears in a few of the photos that there is rust in areas of the car, and yes, that is usually normal for a car of 55+/- years.

We have been contacted by several sellers of cars on the west coast, and other inland areas near us.

We wanted to send this reply to the site, as this now gives them the option of selling the cars to others.

Thanks again so much for all the help on this car, hope it goes to a good home.
