Looking for any assistance locating the proper brake master cylinder for my '68 Eldorado.  Shop has ordered and received three incorrect units so far....not sure where the complexity is?  The numbers I see on the cylinder are 1380L near the top, and just below left is 6122A.   My parts book says it's a Bendix model part number 1494859.

The brake lines enter on the passenger side (right) of the installed cylinder (one sent was backward).  The piston has a hole in the center about 1 5/8" inches deep, where the brake pedal pushrod goes.   Also, the inner diameter of the piston "sleeve" is about 1.020 inches (Others have had incorrect bore depth and/or piston diameter).

Don't want to cut the rod, or otherwise modify to make something work....how do I find this master cylinder?

Pictures attached.

Any leads or education here appreciated - Perry

The parts manual shows that master cylinder (part number 1495849) was only used in 1968 and on the Eldorado, 75 series and commercial chassis.  Maybe if you tell the parts guy this information they can track down the correct master cylinder.

I have to confess after getting the correct master cylinder from NAPA and having it fail in a few months I pulled the master cylinder and booster off the ’70 Eldorado and installed it on the ’68.  It works well.

Someday I’ll have the original booster and master cylinder rebuilt and re-install them.

Hey,
You didn't say where you got the wrong part, so I'll take a stab at another source. I had a great deal of luck on parts using USA Parts Supply. They have a web site at www.usapartssupply.com.  I always used their catalog, and phoned them at 800-872-2013.
My most recent catalog is from 2007.  It lists the rebuilt master cylinder for a 1968 Eldo and Comm. Chassis as part number 4.650KR for $199.45, with a core deposit of $100. It says it is resleeved.  It also lists a rebuild kit as part # 4.649N ( with no mention of sleeves).
Best Luck,

I had the same problem as you.  My power brake booster went bad, I had it rebuilt by Booster Dewey ( Did a  great job)  and then my master went bad a month later. I  got  a power brake booster for a 69 Eldo and  a new master cylinder for a 69 eldo (They are still available).
