There is an empty spot in the dash where a starter button should be.  Need the '41 Cadillac starter button and its mounting hardware, please.  chromebumpers@netzero.net.  I believe that it's the same button for all Cadillacs '41-'47, and probably most or all other GM brands, too, for that period.

Tom, I think the difference is that the later ones don't have the word "Start" on them, but I could be wrong.

Did you find one Tom?  I have one here in England I could send you.

Correct. My 46 does not say start on it.

Tom- I parted out a 46 series 62  many years ago but most of it still remains. If that year is still acceptable to you- and you still need one- I'm a lot closer than England (NorCal). Unfortunately, can't guarantee good condition since it was a rusty car, but ??? who knows. Mike Simmons (938).

Many thanks for your replies and offers of help.

Although I have owned this car for more than 20 years, I do not recall the way the 1941 starter button bezel looks, or the word "start" on it.  (Some years ago I sold the car to someone who began to part it out and sold the starter button, but then I reacquired the car minus a number of important parts.)

If you tell me that the bezel says "start," then I guess that's the sort of starter button I need.  Starting the car using the Fred Flintstone Method is not easy, but I strongly prefer not to use an inauthentic part for this particular item.  How about a 1940 Cadillac-La Salle starter button?  How about '41 Buick-Olds-Pontiac?

I may be a lot Farther away but I have the correct 41 button with "start" on it and it doesn't need chroming :)

1940 Starter button is a cast one, I believe, and that era Buicks, you pressed down on the accelerator to start. When I had my '41 Century, a lot of the time I left the key out and used the unlocked position to move the switch to start position. Don't give up. '41s are not all that hard to find.
