I am finally in the body shop with my 1941 6227.  Unfortunately, the outside stainless trim on the door windows have been cemented in and the guys removing same are concerned about ruining the stainless if they try to remove.  Any idea where I might find replacements (other than the vendor in NV).  Thanks.

Joe,
They are hard moldings to find as they're 40/41 C body coupes only. They are chrome plated brass not SS. First remove the vent assys. Then remove the small piece that covers the joint. Warm up the molding with a heat gun. Start to work the molding off of the lip that it's mounted on starting at the joint. It's a tight press fit. It should come off by hand. Take your time. Same procedure for the 1/4 windows. Good luck.

Bob,
The heat did the trick!!  Thanks much.  Do you know who might offer new window channels and felt for the 41 coupe by chance?  Thanks again.

I got the best deal for my '41 by getting them from Chevs of the 40's, but All Cads and McVey's certainly have them.  In retrospect I think it would be easiest to install the "cats whiskers" (the felt strip with the chrome/stainless edge that goes on either side of the windows) before you install the glass or the inside door/window trim.  Also, be prepared to at least consider "fixing" the rear slider windows into place.  I had some issues with those things.  You'll need "cats whiskers" there too but not the window channel.

Joe,
I'm glad I could help.
I deal with Bob's Automobilia. They are Buick guys but understand our C body cars very well. Plus...
Reasonable prices ,fast service and they don't have an attitude.

Bob & Ken:
Thanks so much for your suggestions and I do plan to seal the back windows and did in fact order some materials from Bob's based on your referral Bob.  Plan to retain the vent windows and not sure the Buick rubber will match correctly so probably will order from Steele Rubber.  Boy are they expensive!    Appreciate both of your assistance and any other suggestions for me moving forward.  Sure like what you have done with your 6227 Ken!

My vent rubber from Steele was a fine fit.  All of the rubber for my coupe was between 2 and 3k ...get ready!

Joe,
I'd buy it from Bobs if they're cheaper. MANY vendors discount Steeles prices.
