Hi, I just found a 1940  special series 52 coupe  in a junk yard.  It was about to be crushed. They told me by law once a car is in their yard It can't be sold, it had to be destroyed.  It took some doing but I got it by taking it apart and buying each piece separately.  Anyway, I love this car and will have it back in all it's glory soon.  It is almost all there.  I found a grill on eBay, the only piece that I don't have and can't find is the small grill piece that goes on the hood.  If anyone knows of one around please let me know. Thanks

G'day Michael,

I like it when things come together, and it is a pity that more vehicles couldn't be saved from the crusher.

Hello Michael

Welcome to the CLC Forum!

Thank you for performing CPR on that LaSalle. Which piece on the hood are you refering to? We would love to see your vehicle so please post pictures.

I look forward to meeting and seeing your car at our Grand National in Boston this summer.
All good men own a Cadillac but great gentlemen drive a LaSalle. That is the consequence of success.

The piece that he is talking about is unique for 1940. The grille came in two pieces and the upper piece was attached to the hood.

I have seen these pieces come up on EBay from time to time. There are also people on this forum who have parted out these cars and may be able to help you.

Good luck. Saving a LaSalle from the crusher is truly the Lord's work.

Hello Alan

Gratitude for pointing that out. Michael I thought it might be the piece you desire but I was uncertain. If you PM me to confirm that you have joined our national and a local region near your residence, I will give and ship the piece to you free.

Michael,
Good luck with your project. Might I ask what state this junkyard is in?
Chuck,
That's a very nice gesture on your part.
