I have been looking for a 1947 front passenger side fender. I found a 1946 and would like to know if I would have a problem around the headlight and fog light area?  The 46 had one more bar in the grille, could this change the fender detail?

Also will the fender skirts for the rear fender fit on either side?

            Thanks   Gary

Gary: A 46 fender will not work on a 47 as the grill is different. I have been that route when I restored my 47 as I bought a 46 parts car. Tried the 46 fender and as you said, the area between the headlight and fog lamp is completely different between the two cars. Yes with a little work, a fender skirt from one side will work on the other side. To accept a fender skirt that belongs on the other side of the car, the area of the underside lip of the fender must be made flat so that when the locking bar is turned on the skirt, the flattened part of the lip allows the bar to turn and lock. If you look under the top lip of the fender area that accepts the shirt you will see the flat area.  As you know the skirt locking bar is not in the exact vertical center of the skirt. To tell the difference between a left and a right 46-47 skirt, when installed on the car, the head of the locking bar when you look at the skirt, will be towards the rear of the car.  Bill
