67 DeVille Neutral Safety Switch

Finding a new neutral safety switch for my 67 was a challenge at best. I found a used one for $90. It didn't work when I installed it. I took it apart to clean it etc to no avail.  I ended up purchasing one for $17 plus shipping for a 68 Bonniville 428. It works perfect except that the vaccum emergency brake release mechanism isn't part of this switch. For how little I use the emergency brake, I think I can live without that feature. I now have backup lights (most important to me) and the car will only start in Park or Neutral (secondary but important). I'm thinking of buying another one and seeing if I can take the mechanism from it and install it on the Caddy housing since everything else seems to be a fit. For $17 I figure it's worth a try.

Part number for the Bonniville switch is Standard NS7. I ordered mine from RockAuto.

I think Cadillac Tim in Iva SC (google him) re-builds them.  You could send him the one you purchased that does not work.  I agree with you for how little the e-brake is used and given the easy manual release, it is easy to live without.  If you show the car, the judges ding you on that where features are required to be demonstrated.  As far as adding the vacuum release to the Rock-Auto switch - sorry no idea, but those things are fun to try.
