Anyone build a console/cup holder for their bench seat car?

I'm contemplating building a console to house an aftermarket radio and am interested in pictures / ideas of what you constructed (or had constructed) or thought about constructing.  Would probably include a bin for wallet, coins and other "stuff" as well as places for cups.  Thinking it should attach to the trans tunnel in front of the bench seat.  Mine would have to be out of wood, would likely cover it in padded vinyl.   Unfortunately, no metal working skills here........

Anyone done this?  Pictures?

I have a plastic double cup holder that has a bin as well for toll change, sun glasses or whatever. It is easily removed for judging.

I bought one of these for my '49.  It sits on the bench seat and is easily removable.

I have one I took out of my 69 Fleetwood before I sold.  I can send you pics.  It housed an aftermarket radio.

Yeah chaz I'm with you . I don't understand the whole cup holder thing in any vehicle . Especially with my Cadillac , nobody but nobody is getting into mine with a drink , let alone food . Unless they are holding the champagne glass that I give them . If you put them in a holder they will spill . If you hold on to them you act as a shock absorber . Only alcohol is allowed in my vehicles and only if it's held .

The console will really be made to house the aftermarket radio.  The other stuff is for modern convenience.  It would be nice to have a trash receptacle as well.  I guess back in the day, they just littered.....

I'm a believer in "It's a car, drive it".  Just this weekend at the Memorial Day Parade, it was misting and drizzling.  Told my 86 year old dad that I wouldn't take the Caddy out in this weather for a parade (I took my '75 88 vert instead).  He also said you need to get a "dink" on the car so you don't always have to worry about every little thing that may happen to it.

Now, I don't subscribe to his theory of getting the first "dink" and getting it out of the way.  I believe it will happen eventually, but I want to hold it off as long as possible.

Remember, it's a car.  It's meant to be driven.  And who doesn't get thirsty when they drive???  And by the way, my wife's car has the remnants of numerous spills.  Sticky, gooey spills, so much so the console wouldn't latch.  And she says "my interior needs to be cleaned".  I say don't spill your drinks and your "interior won't need to be cleaned".

As with everything, there is middle ground............
