How to set the chokes on updraft carbs

Hello, I have updraft Zenith carbs on my v-12 engine and apparently the chokes are not properly adjusted because the car will not initially start unless starter fluid is first used. How do you adjust them.

I have no idea how to set the choke, but I would like to offer an opinion.
After reading your other post, it appears she won't start without a shot of starting fluid.
As you have tried other things and are looking at the choke last makes me think you suspect another problem. I am of the fix one thing at a time and verify you haven't made the problem worse school of thought. May I suggest you not try to adjust the choke at this point but just eliminate it from the equation.. If you just manually set the choke at various points and see if it starts then that may eliminate it. If adjusting the choke doesn't  help then your problem lies elsewhere. My concern would be messing up the choke and adding another problem to the mix. If you just disconnect it and move it manually thru its range while starting and it doesn't help then all you have to do is re hook it up.
Just a thought.

Thank you Jeff, I will try that. But, it may be difficult because there are two updraft carbs and when I disconnect the rods wonder how I will know when the flaps are open or closed.

That's what I thought. Very tricky on two up draughts on the V12 engine and one can't see them both at the same time.
Is the choke arrangement the same as when the original carbs were on there Ty? If so, all you can do is follow the manual on adjustment.

Hello Steve, I think so. The same rods are used and only short arms added at the carbs.
