My bro and I have a 1940 Ford 5 window coupe hotrod built by the famous race driver Carl Bettenhausen in the 1960's. It has an 1952 Cadillac 331 engine, bored 1/8, stroked 1/2, Jahn's 13.5 to 1 highdome pistons, 270° Chet Herbert roller tappet cam, heads ported and releived, Edmunds highrise intake with twin 1100cfm 4 barrel carbs progressive linked, LaSalle 3 speed chrome manual non-synch trans. Body mods too numerous to list. IE: 49 rear end, 47 front end with fenders curled open to fit, r/w tuck-n-roll, etc. Dino tested 450 HP at rear wheels at 8500 shift point. Torque unimaginable for 1800 pound car. 950/15 rear tires smoked nicely.
One winter 30+ years ago the engine froze, popped freeze plugs, and curled head gaskets letting water in oil. No evidence of block damage from mild CA freeze. The heads have since been lost.
So we would like to replace the engine with a stock one, just bolt on preferably to current motor/trans mounts, using our intake and carbs, linkages. Trade or buy.... Anyone??
