Since I'm redoing all my hoses and water pump, I might as well redo the heater hoses as well. In some photos it looks to me like this car should have a metal tube with a slight bend that extends along the top of the manifold with a rubber portion at the heater, and on the radiator side? Right now, I have a hose that lays along the top of the engine and threads under the manifold crossover which doesn't strike me as being a prudent arrangement.

Since I'm sure this is something I will have to fabricate, does anyone have photos, dimensions (length, diameter, where and degree of the angle), materials (brass, steel, copper) they could share?

After I get that made, should it just sort of lay there, or should it be suspended from the cowl to radiator bracing in some way as I have seen some people do? Thanks.

I'm back to square one on this. Am I on the right track with the tubing idea from the radiator outlet to heater core? And if so, does anyone have the specs on this tubing? Thanks

I have seen it done in many different ways but not on the top of the engine like that and it was always copper tube to run across the engine.

Yeah, I'm pretty uncomfortable with the setup my car has. I certainly see potential for problems anyway. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any period photos which show how this was all executed originally.

Not mine.

Now THAT looks like the ticket to me. Neat and unobtrusive. I like it. Thanks Mo!

So it looks like I need to get some 5/8" copper tubing and put a couple of bends in it to go around the manifold, paint it black and run with it. Thanks fellas...
