The blurb writer got a bit ahead of himself in the description - Dark Cedar metallic is a standard color and not a Firemist. The roof color is Cedar Firemist however.

As encouraging as this sale result is, whether it's indicative of a greater overall trend of Tri7 values remains to be seen. I've been saying how inexpensive this generation of Cadillacs is for some time and suggesting that the buying opportunity for these cars is now. I don't know if anyone is listening... ???

Entirely agree with Eric.  These are uncharacteristically durable throughout.  I owned four of them during the late 80 and early 90's, one for me and one for my wife, when we worked in Naples, Fla.  They would get "shabby" because of the destructive solar heat, but I never had to spend a nickle on repairs.  Then I fell in love with the 80's Eldorado models, and encountered the "hook and tow"  HT 4100's.

As Eric has pointed out many times, there is a difference between these really nice cars and those I post on CL.  In the past few days I posted several 77-79's with 80,000 miles or less, a couple with less than 50,000 with no higher than $7500 asking, and I guess the average seems to fall in that $6000 range.

So the question is, is it worth the premium to buy from a dealer that has an ebay auction with minimal information, for $20K or buy a 1-3 owner car for 1/3rd of that amount.

My guess if you avoid a dealer, which is still possible. You can get a car under 35,000 miles for $10,000 or a bit less. They made I think over 200,000 of these cars in most years. They are out there so be patient and snag one.

I would rather have the like new car for $10,000 than an  80,000 mile special for $6500 any day of the week.

I bought my 26,000 mile 1978 for $8,900.00 from a dealer at that.
