hi all,

I'm parting out a '73 Eldorado coupe. It was fully working and low miles (69k) but i need the engine and trans.

Its a California car so has virtually no rust (rust under rear window!), all chrome is good! body is straight. Seats are in great condition, but are a sort of green colour, the rest of the interior is tan.

If you need any 73 specific parts let me know. The whole dashboard is no good to me (i have a '74) and its all working in this one as far as i can tell.

I also have my '74 engine and trans - its a rebuilt engine with a perfect top end, but my engine has a low end knock which we think is rod knock.

Car will be scrapped and crushed in a week or so's time, so please let me know asap!

Located near San Jose, California - let me know!

Andrew:

You should consider giving it more time and placing an ad in the SS.

Can you post photos of the interior?

Seems like a real waste to crush a rust free car with nice chrome.

I bet if you put it on your local Craig's List someone will buy the body.  If the interior is nice it can be spray dyed to almost any color.

What does SS mean?

I will add some interior shots in a while.

Let me qualify that rust-free statement - its rust free on the underbody, but it has rust all along under the rear window which i believe is standard for these coupes.. The interior is indeed nice, photos to follow..

SS = Self Starter, the Cadillac LaSalle Club magazine with free ads.  This would get some results for sure, the chrome, grille, fenders.  You are correct, about 75% of these rust under the vinyl top but you are in California, and I suspect everything else is rust free.

I appreciate though that it's your car and it takes a lot of time to remove stuff people want.  I will look at the photos of the interior but it seems like something I would want.  But I'm in Iowa, so can not just stop in and remove.  I am considering a 75 coupe with a trashed interior.

Because of practical reasons, i'm probably going to remove what i can from it, and i don't mind shipping if you need it. The interior is an odd one, its a sort of metallic green vinyl which is hard to make out in the photos. Its a single bench front seat too. I need the plastics that hug the rear of these seats (and centre armrest) for my own car so those will not be included either... the electrics on my driver seat don't work in one of the directions so i might be taking the electrics too... so it really is a parts car. The seats look like new tho, i just can't fathom why someone would go with this really weird green metallic, at first i thought it was a UV affected tan colour, but no - it really is a green. I will pull what i can from it i think if there are no specific requests. If you do want the seats let me know, taking into account what i mentioned above too tho, and that shipping them will probably run to maybe $500 at a guess?

Do you have a trunk latch that works with electric trunk option? I have the solenoid but my latch is for mechanical operation not electric. I have a 72 Fleetwood. I am not sure if it will fit, do you?
Thanks
