WTB a turn signal switch off a 1940 model (lever on the steering column) I want to put one on my 1939 sixty special.
Thanks in advance

They are rarer than hens' teeth, but I have one. The handle will need to be re-chromed, but otherwise it's ok. I'm assuming you have a '40 column, but you are missing a switch.

Steve Passmore

No, he wants to adapt it to his 39.

Jack Carroll in Massachusetts installed a column from a'40 in his '39 coupe so he could have factory turn signals, albeit in a car built before they were included.

Looks nicer than after-markets, though.

I MAY?? have the top housing for a 40 column. It would have the hole for the switch. I don't have the switch. Please advise if you want me to look.
Thanks, Bob

Hello Bob
Yes please if it will fit my 39
Thanks

Mark,
I'm pretty sure the 40 will fit your 39. They just modified the bowl for the switch. My problem is I can't find mine. Please contact me directly at bobscads@comcast.net to discuss a plan.
Thanks, Bob

I have a suggestion. I am currently restoring a '39-7557 and going to adapt turn signals.

I am going to use the Turn Signal Controller System ( # ELE 520) from the Restoration Supply Company . It is hidden keeping originality, is self cancelling, can be used with fog or auxiliary lights on the front, uses a toggle switch and doesn't need a flasher.

The original '40 set up is not self -cancelling and is not the most robust switch. I have one in my 40-60S.

In several of my past restorations including my '38 V16 I used The turn signal switch box from the same company, but it has been replaced by the new system which has much better features.

Hidden, self cancelling, original looking result! What a great concept! I'm forever realizing my turn signal is still on long after I made the turn.

Or you can save $20 and get it directly from the manufacturer: http://www.turnswitch.com/Turnsignal.htm

Been looking at these for months now and thinking this spring I may go ahead and give it a try.
