I need the Emergency / Hand Brake handle for my 1940 LaSalle Model 52. I have attached a photo of it. Mine is missing a part that holds it in place when you apply the brake.

I have one on a 5019 that I am parting out. I don't know if they are the same, but if they are, you will have one. I'll check on it tomorrow.

The body on mine is a 40-5219. Hopefully, they used the same part on both. Thanks!

The emergency brake handle for the 40-50 and 40-52 series show different part numbers in my 1935-1942 Master Parts Book and my 1949 book. The difference may or may not make a 50 series handle  usable on a 52 series. The book shows the same part number for 40-52, 62, and 72, but no others.

Thanks Bob! I appreciate the research. I will try to make sure it will work before I get it.

The only possible difference I can think of would be the angle or some other difference in the mounting bracket. The series 50 and the series 52 were built on two different GM bodies even though the styling is the same. That is why a different brake handle/part number may have been necessary.

If I may butt in here . . . if it develops that the 50-series handle does not interchange with the 52, a possible alternative source might be a different GM make using the same "C" body as the LaSalle 52, such as Buick 50/70 series, Olds 90, and of course, Cadillac 62.

What part do you need? We have one if you are still looking. Off a 5219.

Hi Dave,

I need the whole brake handle assembly. (See photo) It's all one assembly, and I don't think the missing part that I described is supposed to be removable, so I would like to get the whole assembly. Please let me know how to contact you and we can make arrangements. Thanks!

I believe I have one if you are still looking. The attachment point is bent but can be heated and straightened. Or maybe it is suppose to be bent... I don't know.

See Attached.

You are most welcome.

The mounting bracket is supposed to be that way. Yours is OK.
