For that price, I would want free shipping, world-wide.

Actually, I would want a plane fare, first class, return, from anywhere in the world to collect it.

I got a Gold watch when I retired after 32 1/3rd years, and never wore it.   Still haven't worn a watch since I retired, 17 years ago.

PS.   What businesses should do is present the watch at the commencement of employment, so it will be a useful asset to the business during employment.

That watch is a beauty - and it's only for ten years service!  I recently took Dad's 25-year GM watch in for cleaning.  The jeweler mentioned how Ford's recent retirement watches are made in China and don't work very long before needing repair.  He showed me one and it looked garish.  He also said that Omega, Hamilton and Rolex watches will last generations, while the newer quartz watches will only last several years.  I'm no horologist, but it was an interesting comment to hear.

As I have mentioned before, my son-in-law has a clock shop and specializes in the repair and restoration of the brass 400 day clocks under the glass domes. I still work for him now and then if a clock needs case work, and I've gotten several clocks in my home. It is kind of a pain to wind them once a week, but they make a friendly sound and when I wake up in the night it's nice to hear them strike the hours. I've got them so they'll all go off within four-five minutes of one another. It gets a little noisy at 12 o'clock.

I'm just wondering how old this watch can be. Christine, my almost wife (we are not married) used to work for the Swatch Group; Hamilton belongs to this group. We had yesterday a look at the Hamilton site; in the twenties, they made an advertising with that train precision; before WWII, they switch to planes. In our opinion, that clock could be from the twenties to the thirties.
That gift for 10 years was probably to someone belonging to the management; I doubt that the guy working at the assembly line got that after 10 years, but I may be wrong.

The watch has the Lasalle logo on it. It would have to have been made between 1927 and 1940. That is a beautiful watch.

The comments made me smile. My grandfather collected clocks and I have a couple of them. Wound the Gilbert last night and the New Haven over the weekend. And for Barry, i have a 400 day clock on my dresser.

I loved showing them to my kids friends who all wanted to know where the batteries went. And the look in their eyes when I opened the back.
