These engines has been discussed here recently but I don't find the thread right now.  Note the engine in the main picture has an alternator.
There is a fine line between "Hobby" and "Mental Illness".  Dave Barry.   I walk that line.

I assume that those are the WWII surplus tank
engines that show up from time to time (?).  IRRC,
there are some modifications that have to be made
to those to install in a car (exhaust headers, etc.).

The one pictured as a 1936 is not a 1936 block because it has the engine mount castings. Surely a WWII surplus  as it does have the holes in the front of the block for mounting.

I assume, The yellow (chromate primer?) painted ones were ‘as found’ , the fresh and authenticly painted engine (I gather) was restored later from crated yellow ones and just for illustration.
