Thanks a bunch Steve. Those pictures and measurements clear up a lot of mysteries for me.

This will be a daunting project, but I think I can pull it off. Where there's a will, there's a way and all that. I suspect that a lot of guys who would think nothing of tearing down an engine or transmission get spooked by anything involving sewing and the fabric arts. I on the other hand have always said I was game for anything in this restoration except tearing down an engine, transmission, or differential. :D

I think now I can start hunting down materials and buy them piecemeal and at least spread the expense out over time. For example, buy all the windlace one month, all the broadcloth a couple of months later, eventually the material for the seat covers. It would appear that each component (seat covers vs. door panels vs. windlace) tended to have a slightly different shade value; so as long as I completely buy everything for each component at the same time, I shouldn't have to worry about dye lot variances.

While I am under no illusion that it will all turn out perfect, I know it will be far superior to what I already have authenticity wise, fit wise, and in cleanliness (the little lady is not fond of "old car smell" provided by squirrels and mice over the years). Plus, I'm not wild about dropping $8-10,000 for an upholstery job when I think I can do a good chunk of it myself. Add in X amount of months of having the car off the road in a shop and the choice to DIY becomes pretty clear to me.
