I have quite a tale of discouragement regarding the need of this "C" letter for a friend I'm doing a partial restoration for of his 1956 Cadillac convertible. He was new to the Cadillac hobby but was very experienced over an entire lifetime of restoring and building other cars and street rods. He just has been beat up by this experience with his Cadillac. He believed he was doing things properly when he went about buying components he knew he needed and did so from who he was told were reputable and knowledgeable vendors. Simply put, he has been taken for a ride on a number of purchases but most painful to me has been his badge, "V"s and letter purchases. He has bought either supposed "NEW" or "NOS" stuff but has ended up with some real clinkers for mega bucks. Super painful and discouraging for me to have to tell him to start over on a number of things now.
Long story concluding, he is looking for the letter "C" to complete his set of trunk lettering that was really for a 1957 and not the 1956 he has. I told him perhaps there was some kind person out in the CLC who might have sympathy on him and not take him for a ride. His set was sold to him as re-plated but was missing a "C" when it arrived. The seller told him that it couldn't be so he was left out to dry. To make matters worse now, he now sees that they weren't even for a 1956!
Thanks for hearing me out and I'll look forward to hearing from someone who may be able to help him out.
He'd like to sell his wrong set to mitigate his losses but needs to have the "C" to complete it.
