Looking for battery hold down bar for -71 Eldorado. I think -72 has similar. The bar is attached to rear of the battery, not to front like in some other models.
Best regards,

Thanks Bruce,
I think we are located completely opposite points of the globe. No distance is too long to get parts for Cadillac. Let's see if there is something available nearby like less than 10 000 miles or so.

Bird in the hand?

These are limited production items that corrode or get lost/thrown away, so not likely going to find a good one, or one that's "affordable" if you do.   (Check the earlier/past posts on this subject.)
Most resort to the common universal type hold-downs that are available for a wide variety of modern batteries, since likely a mismatch between the factory battery and what's avail for it now.   Worst case change/modify the tray as well.
Other than making one yourself...

I forgot to mention that mine is free, oh, except that you pay postage, unless you know of anyone that is coming down under for the Mudgee Rally next year, then it can go back as checked-in luggage.   Wouldn't pass in hand luggage as it would be seized as a possible weapon.

Once again, thanks to this great forum, I learn I am missing an item for my Eldo. Just made a template hold down using the picture and a few test fits on the car. I will attempt building my own out of aluminum when Inget some 1/4" rod stock.
Shouldn't be too hard to duplicate.

I have a feeling that Aluminium won't work as a holding fixture, as it would be too soft to retain the battery in its' holder in any sort of major bumping incident.

I agree. It is made of 8mm diameter steel bar.

Probably so, but it will be much easier to see if I got it right.  I also don't expect much rough road use. After all it has been running around with nothing for about 15 years. Later I can see if it is worth the next step in going to steel.

Just a followup. Finally spent about an hour to make one of these out of 3/8" aluminum. Stiffer than I thought it would be. Battery very snug. Fine for everyday running around, but would bend in any serious impact scenario. Then you have other issues to worry about!
Found the image above unintentionally hid some slight bends that occur right where the hand is holding the bar. These bends are needed so that the 'handle' clears the tray bottom and back side. Looks like my 'u' shape should have been a tad wider...
