[49 Caddy]

  Transmission is out of the car and I am wanting to somehow flush old fluids and jelly buildup,from sitting.  Is there a product I can fill it up with and let it sit while I am rebuilding the motor.  I have not found anyone around Eastern N.C. that will rebuild the tranny.

If you have the transmission out just remove the bottom pan and side pan clean them out and re-install with new gaskets and new seal for the gear selector / kickdown.  It would probably be worth diassembling the valve body and cleaning it then reinstalling.

This just going to be a job you have to decide how far you want to go.  I ended up pulling my Hydra-matic to replace leaking seals and ended up rebuilding it.  I don't regret rebuilding it, that was the right choice for me.

  Thanks for the response.  I really wish I could find someone local to rebuild, but that could work.  You know it is way easier to remove tranny with engine than with engine in place.  I bought the car with a seized motor and have rebuilt it and things would be easier to decide if i had ever had it running to know how far to go.  Thanks again.
