The headline states my request. I am about to put the body back on the chassis and forgot all about the clock until now. So am looking for recommendations for a shop to repair my clock and switch it to 12 volt or quartz or whatever it takes to make it tick.

If you switch to 12V .....  I suggest you first figure out what you will use for
a generator {or alternator)

It's not easy to explain without the engine sitting in front of you
but it can be very difficult to fit an alternator to one of these
flatheads.  The only one I know of that will fit in is a CS 121
and even then
the front plate of the CS 121 has to be machined a bit
And the CS 121 then has to be fitted to a "Becker" adapting plate

As for the generator route....I don't know of any 12V generator that will fit in physically
Look at the  front plate of your existing generator....it is unique

About using a 12V regulator to boost your existing 6V generator to a 12V generator
.......I have no idea if this can be done. But Bcroe I bet will know

We put a 8V alternator on our 1937 Cadillac series 60 ( positive ground)
A 8V  converted CS 121 was not available so we had to go with a more standard GM alternator converted
to 8V .   Really tough to do.....unlike using a converted CS 121 we had to modify the front plate (it is cast) of the engine !!!    I wouldn't recommend this method to anyone

Hi Carl, I think we have talked about these folks before --- www.clocksandgauges.com
They do quartz conversions, however, they were unable to do the conversion on my '35 because of the design of the clock's case.  A '37 clock could well be much different.  So, you have Harry Scott's suggestion and mine --- be sure to point out that the car is going to be 12 volts.
Best of luck, Geoff

Think I'll give Marty Watkins a shout and see if HE can quartz a '35 Caddy clock.
