1950s 1959 Cadillac center arm rest question

Silly question but does the arm rest fold down on a front seat of a 1959 Cadillac Coupe Deville?

I have a 1960, essentially the same car and the answer is yes. I have to pull up on mine a little to get it to unfold.

Okay I haven't tried yet with mine but I was hoping that might be the case.  Its nice having that in my 66 as it makes for a more enjoyable cruise.

I have a 1972 El Dorado and mine folds down.  Very comfortable.

I have a 59 Coupe Deville and, yes, it does fold down.

I have to pull up on mine a little to get it to unfold.

My 1959 CDV behaves the same way - pull up a little at its base to "unlock" the arm rest to allow it to fold down.

Okay I'll give that a try.  Seemed jammed when I tried.

The center armrest fold down mechanism in the '59 is a flawed design. Don't force it; pull using moderate pressure with one hand while pushing straight up on the bottom with the other. A little rocking motion from side to side may also help.

Figured it out.  Works great and the fabric is like new!  Guess they never used it much.  Thanks everyone.
