The windshield wipers on my 1976 Cadillac Coupe de Ville quit working and I assume that the (original) switch broke.  I can't figure out how to replace it even though I've got the shop manual.  Besides, I'm not talented enough to dig up under the dashboard without breaking more things than I fix.  Any advice?  Is there a for-hire mechanic who could tackle this?

To remove the switch is about as easy as opening the door.  First you need to either remove the air vent (next to the switch) or pull the tab on the left side of the vent (GENTLY) and push the vent in to expose the screw.  Remove the screw and pull the switch out and unplug it.  I replaced the one on my Brougham years ago and it was no problem.

Hope this helps.
