Bought some replacement outer door handles for a '55 I'm restoring (old ones too pitted) and what came looks close, but is different, are these handles year specific?

David King (kz78hy)

Yes, I thought the handles were the same, but as it turns out, they are not.  I have a one off a 55 coupe.

The parts book makes my head spin but if I'm reading this right the handles are '55 60 Special specific?

Roger Zimmermann

It's effectively surprising, but you are reading correctly. I also wonder why...

As the owner of a 55 60S, I have found this to be the case.  Yes, the door handles on a 55 60S are unique to that year and model.
