1950s Top pieces marked with X

There's an X on one roof rail to lift cylinder piece that I can't find instructions for. Mentioned it in my project thread but still no luck. I know I've read about this somewhere but cannot remember?..
Saw it too late disassembling, almost like sided. On the attached pic bottom right you can see it.
