Hello yall im gunna be rebuilding my power brake system in my 53 eldo but many years ago the power brake booster went out and the original owner converted it back to Manuel brakes so I'm missing the two brake lines 1 from master cylinder to booster and then booster to brake line block on top of front driver frame rail I can make new lines lines no problem but I want them to look some what original with the same bends so my question is does anyone have pics of those 2 brake lines I'm missing? Thanks for the help!

Looked in an early Cadillac MPL and did not see a schematic diagram for these parts. Perhaps try the shop manual. Clay/Lexi

Power brakes first became available on the 1954 model year Cadillacs and the factory subsequently offered a Power Brake Package, 1950 thru 1953, part #146 2266, $73.90. It is described in the Cadillac Master Parts List as a "Complete installation package". Numerous Eldorados have, since 1954, been fitted with power brakes. From an authenticity standpoint, I would think that power brakes on a 1953 Eldorado would probably be considered authentic if installed from a factory kit.

That said, I could provide you with a picture of my '55 power brake connections. I would think that the factory kit was just the '54 and almost identical '55 components, but the HydroVac unit those years sits where the heater fan does on the '53 so my pics might might not be helpful. Otherwise, maybe searching for the "Complete Installation Package" or the part # as mentioned above could provide more info about that factory kit.

It was difficult to get a clear shot on my '55 so here are several pics from different angles. As I wrote above, the hydrovac unit on '54 & '55 sits where the heater fan does on a '53 to give you some perspective as you look downward. The left side of the pic is pointing towards the radiator. Here you see the booster just forward of the blue valve cover and oil filter tower and the driver's side of the engine. The top brake line (see arrow) coming from the hydrovac goes to the distribution block on the frame. You can see the first 2 bends of that line.  It doesn't show up very well in this pic but the line from the M/C is below and shows up just barely inside the bend of the heater hose. More later on that line. (click any pic to enlarge)

Below is a closer view of the top line going to the dist block and below on the left side you see the connection of the line from the M/C (between the two hoses). As you see it angles downward on it's way to meet the frame. On the '55 the line between the M/C and the hydrovac is 5/16 inch while the other brake lines are 3/8 inch

Below you see a view of the top line as it meets the distribution block. You also see the line from the M/C descending down towards the frame which it will meet just behind the block. Again, right is going towards the firewall and the M/C.

Here is the point where the M/C line meets the frame and is secured.

Another view of the M/C line meeting the frame. From there it lies on the frame until the line bends and leaves the frame to meet the M/C
BrakeLineFromMCReachesFrame.jpg
Here you see the M/C line bends to meet the M/C (M/C seen in next pic). The other smaller line is the line coming from the distribution block to the rear brakes. You see the steering column and power steering hoses.

The final pic shows the line leaving the frame to meet the M/C

Hope that helps,
