Hi Everyone
I am trying to help one of my aunt's friends whose husband passed away about a year ago. He had a nice original 1959 Cadillac Coupe De Ville that she would like to sell.

The car came from Indianapolis a few years ago and was bought from the original owner's grandson. It shows 42,000 miles and still has its all-original interior, including carpet and trunk. The rear package tray is also the original one.

Under current ownership, the rubber seals were changed, and an aftermarket A/C and retro radio were added. They used the car regularly, and it is in usable condition.

Due to its originality, she is asking $120,000 for the car, which can be seen in Los Angeles, CA. Please let me know if you have any questions, and I will ask her.

Thank You

Tim, you have to remember that is $120k in California dollars which is like $40,000 in the real America because everything in California cost three times what it does anywhere else. 🤣🤣🤣

But for $10k more, you can get one that the top drops on.  8)

Once you are over $100k, what's the difference.

This 1959 Series 62 Coupe with 23,000 miles sold for $110,000 two years ago at Raleigh. Except for the wire wheels and engine paint, this car is not only all original, but Concours quality. It would take top honors at any national show in which it was entered. There can't be more than a few handfuls of 1959 Cadillacs in the world at this level.

Sorry Eric, but Steve's car is not concourse quality. While it may be 'almost' original, the dash has been redone, the wheels are incorrect, the tires are looking very old and off the top I'm sure there are other things.

While I surely wouldn't kick it out of my garage, I also wouldn't pay over double the ACV on the car.

No need to apologize; that was exactly my point without being critical of the car. I noticed the items you mentioned and agree wholeheartedly.

I don't like to be critical of anyone's car. After all, it's not mine and many times, I wish they were. It's just that this climate change has caused the money tree in the back yard not to produce so well this year.

Wowzers.  That was probably someone that HAD to have that car.  Its very clean and nice, but I also see some touch ups here and there too.  I know personally I want to redo my heater box and radiator soon, but they still have the original factory stamps present so I'm hesitant to mess with them.  The rad definitely needs a redo so perhaps repop the stamp?

I can see no signs of touch up except for a light scratch in top of fender. In any case, you'd be mighty hard pressed to find better in an original '59.

I'm biased, mines all original and I think she's cleaner, albeit with minor patching that I need to do to the front fenders.

London Gray over Dover White.  Bought by a WW2 USAAF vet and custom ordered.  Supposedly not a very common color combo.

Tim, I forgot to tell you that your old haunt the 29 Dinner at the corner of Rt 123/Rt 50 in Fairfax finely fell to higher property values and and taxes. It closed earler this year. The tote the note used car lot on the east side of the dinner and the 1950's Texaco on the west side of the dinner are just hanging on. That land is worth millions and eventually it will all be gone. Oh, and love your 59......

Thats a shame.  I wonder if John, the previous owner, decided to take the insurance money and close shop.  Lovely spot that's been open since 1947.

59-in-pieces

Tim,

I noticed that there is a white sticker on the top of the radiator core support.
If it is still legible - even partially - what does it say.

This sticker could be there as a result of the "recall" for the "bad" Pitman Arm, in the original production.
Although not in a rectangle shape (alleged), it could be important.
If legible, please post a close-up pic.

Have fun,
Steve B.

I assume these were the artifacts you were wishing to see.  It does look like an official stamp but I'll let you be the judge on that.  There's a lot of small goodies throughout this car.

Hey Steve-

I have never actually seen a pitman arm recall sticker.  Have you?  If so, is that the typical size and location? The GM and NHTSA info I have refers to it, but no pics.  And we know you like pics.
