I'm preparing to remove my front bumper.  The shop manual has a step that reads:  "Remove two screws with washers from the jacking restrictors,  one on each side."   I can't find anything in the supporting diagrams that identify "jacking restrictors"   In studying the car,  I see 2 bolts securing each of the the inner and outer mounting bars to the frame - 8 total,  plus two securing the bumper ends to the fenders,  but not seeing anything else.   Can someone point me to these two screws and/or the "jacking restrictor?"   Thank you.  Chris

Fig 14-2, there you will se that these are the very large nuts in the center of the end pieces that are accessible through the front of the fender.

Thanks - in an earlier step,  the manual refers to the bolts that attach the bumper ends to the fenders as "bumper restrictors."   So "jacking restrictors" and "bumper restrictors" are synonymous?   I considered that,  but it also didn't look like the bolts/screws had to come out - just the nuts,  which are removed in an earlier step.   It didn't look like the bolts had to be removed - they would drop down out of the fender hole when the bumper came off,  unless bumper has to come forward before dropping down.

Worst case I remove all of the known fasteners and see if anything else is hanging up the final removal process.   I plan on making a pair of cradles out of 2x4's to support the ends during the removal and installation process.  The concept worked great for removing and installing the doors.

I didn't want the bumper hanging by two fasteners that I missed removing and possibly damaging something.   Nothing like previous experience to avoid problems.

Thanks again,
Chris

Looking more at it they probably aren't the same because they are referenced separately in the instructions.

I recently removed the front bumper on my 68, without looking at the manual, and it came off easily without any hidden bolts or nuts.

That was my thought as well regarding the instructions.   Good to know that you managed to get yours off without any unpleasant surprises.    I will move forward cautiously.

Thanks again.
