I just joined the club and hope to get some help with this car.
I have restored a 1930 pierce arrow and a 29 model a but have never taken a car this far.
I am helping my neighbor with his 38 LaSalle convertible
This is going to be a frame off restoration as it was in pieces/parts when he bought it.
the main body is pretty badly rusted and is going to need a new partial floor pan.
the front end is a mess and we will be adding disc brakes and new wheels.
the rear axle has excessive play and is going to be upgraded to a new axle.
The v8 motor is going to be replaced and add an automatic tranny.
the rear shocks are ok,  the front shocks are being rebuilt by apple hydraulics
questions
is there anyone who makes a floor pan for this car?
is there a front end rebuild kit available?
does anyone sell the steering drag link dust boots?
what engine/ tranny combo would be recommended?
Thanks in advance for any guidance

The Cadillac and Lasalle Club publishes an authenticity manual for 1937 and 1938 Lasalles. Lots of good information. Look on the club website for info on how to buy one.

Also the club has volunteer technicians for 36-48 Flathead V8 engines and 1938 Lasalles. These volunteers have experience with Lasalles. Look in the directory section of the club website for contact information on these guys. It will be in the members only section.

If the owner wants automatic transmission and disc brakes it would be easier to start with a Cadillac from the 60's. In my opinion, all the retrofitting modern parts makes a difficult restoration even harder.
