A good friend of mine has a '41 coupe with an unrepairable block.  Does anyone in the East have a short block or complete good engine for sale?

Sadly, because of the cost of a rebuild ($12,000), he is putting in a 472 with hydro/etc.  Not my way of doing things, but its his car.  Thank you for your attempt to help

I'm wondering what kind of work must be done for $ 12'000!

Everything has gotten so expensive the past several years - prices have gone CRAZY!

Had a flat tappet GM engine rebuilt by a highly recommended professional a few years ago for $9k including dyno testing. This was a more commonly used engine from the 1960s.

$12k is really not that much higher. Craftsmen capable and willing to take on a Cad flathead are fewer and farther in between these days plus costs of Cadillac parts $$$$.

For $12k, they had better put it in for me too!

It was complete machining, total bore, everything.  Not a lot of money today.  An eight cylinder Pierce engine 385 I paid $25000 thirty years ago.
