Question, when accessing the Self Starter online magazine ( I am a non paper copy member ) the site asks me to enable cookies to read it. If I do this will this cookies enablement cause a bunch of unwanted invasion crap and ad's on my computer ?

Probably not. Very likely they are performance cookies that help the site run smoothly especially when a lot of text and color pictures are present.

Not something I worry about on the Clubs site(s).

Most sites on the web offer a reject or manage function. I have never noticed any difference in performance of the site if I accept or reject them. However I do reject them when ever possible.

If you are so concerned about privacy use DuckDuckGo for your web browser, AdBlock and Privacy Badger to kill ads. You can add a virtual Proxy Network (VPN)for a final barrier. Good ones,i.e. Express and Nord are a little pricey and there is a moderately flat learning curve to navigate them and they work. Hell, with a VPN you can easily set your IP address to Moldova or Senegal if you like and really keep the trackers guessing.

I routinely clear out most of unwanted cookies using firefox's internal capability and then a program called CCleaner. I do it several times a week.

Two other good and free programs besides CCleaner are Glary Utilities and Spybot Search and Destroy.

The bad part about wiping all of your cookies is you have to constantly sign back into all of your favorite sites and if you use two factor authentication, it doubles the task.

Ok thanks for the replies. I just won't access the Self Starter anymore.

CCleaner allows you to decide which cookies to keep or delete and has an intelligent scan feature that will keep cookies to be "saved" in a list that you can further fine tune. I don't have to re-log in to my preferred sites.
