Surviving the Hotrod Power Tour

I just took my cadi through the hotrod power tour, goin over 3,000 miles in 9 days.
She started off strong with no issues outside a small transmission fluid leak for the first 2 days. Keep in mind this is the original engine and transmission, basically untouched.

around mid way through the AC cut out, it was due to a bad connection on the high pressure side switch, but it wasn't anything we could fix.

Other then that throughout the trip she ran good, I even took her down the drag strip against a friends Uhaul that rented because his car broke down, I lost badly, my car did a 19.2, and the Uhaul did a 16.5

Had some issues on the way back however, she sprung a pretty bad oil leak near the rear main seal on the engine, and for a moment the power steering went out. Still no idea how or why it happened, the pump is brand new, but it started developing hard spots in the turning and then eventually, during a U-turn, the power steering fully gave out. Thankfully on the way back, while on the interstate, the power steering came back out of the blue.
Its going to be a while till i can daily her again, she is getting a lot of inspection and probably a rebuilt engine.

I'm envious that you did this, it has been a bucket list item for me to do with my 68 Fleetwood.

Congrats on being a Long Hauler.  Despite the issues it still sounds like you had a fun time.

It's hard to hook these cars up off of the line. They break free way too easily. With all of that weight on the front end, you would think it would stick to the pavement better.

Another guy in out little group had a 97 herse, converted to look like the ecto-1 from ghost busters, he ran a 17.9
And there were a bunch of other cadis on the tour, even one other eldorado (a 69), but a majority were 59-64 devills and 66-68 devilles.
There was a 76 Fleetwood at a hotel we stayed at so that was cool to finally see one in person
There was even a 67 sedan, painted bright pink with a chopped top, and had the back doors welded to make it a 2 door

Well it stuck good, the issue was its a 50 year old motor and a very very heavy car, and the motor and trans were not liking all those miles

I was going by by your ET. 19.2 isn't really all that great. I was figuring you couldn't launch because the one front tire would just sit and spin. These cars needed a limited slip front pumpkin on them.

I don't know if they still are in biz but there was a company making limited slips for the RV's so once you get the engine dialed in and hooking up becomes the problem along with too much money in your pocket could create new problems and empty your wallet at the same time.

Good to hear there were some other Cadillacs on the tour.
