 Why would this have happened. Interior is 4 weeks old. This is a pic of the drivers seat, notice the piping. People told me vinyl wears better than leather

That depends on the vinyl and depends on the leather.

The ultra fabrics vinyl that was used on the early Teslas was terrible. The surface cracked on tight bends and corners.
