Hi; I found a 66 Sedan de Ville for sale in OH. Nice car, wonderful pics,47 K miles, overall beauty. No AC, Leather seats,AM radio, Auto-dimming,PW, Broken Power seat. Needs tires. I have checked all the price guides I have and think the 8K price is way too high. Any ideas on what a fair offer might be? Thanks, Jim

That price is way to high unless it is perfect. I may step on some toes but the most valuable 66s are the Eldorado and deVille convertibles, then the Fleetwoods, Coupes (deVille and Calais) and then the 4-doors. The only thing less valuble, conditions being equal is a 4-door Calais.

I would say $4-5 thousand unless it is perfect. Remember, mechanical parts are reasonable, body work and chrome are extortionate. If it has one spot of rust start really deducting.

Not that Im an expert, but I would say $4000-$5000 at best, although your description makes the car sound like a nice one. The car is worth what a buyer and seller can agree on on that particular day. Which would you rather have-$5000 or a 66 Deville?

I find no AC a turn off in older luxury cars, Chryslers, Lincolns, Cadillacs, Buicks.

As well as no power windows.

One think that is nice about having these big cars is that when it is 90+ F outside and the humidity is up, you can cruise to/from the show/cruise-in in comfort while everone in their Cameros and Chevelle are sweating buckets.

You can bank on about $400 for tires, another $60 for an alignment.  Maybe shocks too.

Personally, if I were you, I would wait for a better equipped model.  $2500-$3000 tops for this one if you love it, but 4 doors are easy to come buy.

After a year of trying, I finally sold last April my 43,000 nice 68 CDV with cold AC and nice white leather for $4500.  It needed tires too.

A well maintained car show driven 80,000 mile car generally is cheaper and less down the road expenses than a non-driven 40,000 car that needs maintenace, AC work, tire, brakes, shocks, suspension, hoses, belts, tune up, etc.

It sounds like that car is one of the previously-discussed factory freakssince it has quite a few options, but no AC. Its pretty unusual for a Cadillac of the mid-sixties not to have AC, no matter what other options it has. The lack of AC, plus low mileage, may mean that it was ordered as a summer vacation house car in an area thats cool during that season.
Sounds like a nice car and I agree that $4,000-$5,000 seems reasonable.

Well, he sold it. For 8K if hes truthfully. Many thanks for all the insight. I agreed with all the posts, it was worth 5K tops. Nice car, but way too much money. Jim
