Phil Whyte - CLC No. 14192

This is a follow up to the earlier correspondence about the rear main seal on the 331 engine [mines a 54]. Thanks to Franks help I have now succesfully fitted the Chrysler two part neoprene seal instead of the rope seal and it DOESNT LEAK A DROP !!!! I got a felpro seal No BS40245 and it is for the chrysler V8s from 1951 - 1991. I cleaned up the surface on the crank with progressively [Im sure Ive spelt that one wrong !] finer wet or dry paper and installed the seal with a silicone sealer on the back edge [which acts as a lubricant while fitting] and oil on the crank surface . It was a twenty minute job - but it took a lot longer to refit everything , but now it is leak free - at last !!
