I noticed antifreeze on the garage floor where I park my 1939 LaSalle 5019, OK it is the water pump, WRONG, I looked at the shaft and seal by the pulley where the weep hole is, dry as a bone, I started it up and run the engine and drove it, no leak at the shaft seal. The antifreeze is accumulating in  the front frame cross member and dripping through hole in the center of the crossmember. I checked water pump hose ,its dry. the overflow tube goes to a container, the w/p mounting bolts appear dry, It is a mystery to me. Anybody got an idea of whats going on? I sure would like to know.

Gday Steve,

Sounds like you have a leaking radiator.   Either the core, or a joint somewhere, and the coolant that is leaking out is dripping onto the chassis somewhere, and finding its way via the crossmember to the floor.   Might even be a leak at the mounting points, or a stone dent in one of the core tubes.

Bruce, that is a very good point , You never know how antifreeze flows and it could very well be coming from the lower tank. I will check it out in the morning. Thanks again.
