There is an estate sale next weekend here in Oklahoma City advertisng  a "1939 7 Passenger Fleetwood Touring car Limo" and a "1934 Fleetwood Limo, Kettering Prototype number 20"  Does anyone know what the "Kettering prototype 20" is?

Barry Wheeler #2189

The reference to "Kettering Prototype 20" is, most likely, 100percent hype that someone has picked up somewhere. GMs policy towards show cars and prototypes was to destroy them after the need for the unit disappeared, so few actually did survive. The low production rate in 1934 also makes it fairly easy to document unusual cars such as this, and Ive never heard of such an animal. But, given the average car collectors penchant for carrying a pair of rose colored sunglasses to view each and every old car he inspects, who knows, "it could happen" that this is the rarest of the rare. Craveat Emptor!

Interesting. I never heard of any such car either.  Kettering is credited (among other things) with developing the electric self-starter, back in 1911-12.

Who knows; perhaps the 34 Cadillac for sale features another one of Ks inventions.

Lets hear if from any Oakies (or neighbors) who are able to go to that estate sale and get us some pics !

The auctioneer/estate seller has pics on their website.  Both cars appear to be regular production models and are in some state of disassembly with lots of marked boxes of parts. The sale is next weekend (July 8-9)in Oklahoma City.
