Hauling my usual load of scrap up to the salvage yard, I saw what appeared to be a 74-76 Eldo upside down in the pile of cars to be shredded.  It was copper colored, couldnt tell if it used to be a convertible or not.  Its a shame I wasnt there yesterday, I would have liked to see it before they destroyed it, although I imagine if it had come in any kind of good shape one of the guys at the yard would have snagged it.

Its always the 15-30 year old car that is most at danger for the cruncher.  Sad for those of us who like those cars.  Of course, think of the poor SOB that like Kaisers, Studebakers or other old cars that are not embraced by most collectors.

Ive got a weakness for crappy Volvos, no hope for me:(

Hi Guys,

Yes,  the yards are crushing them faster than ever it seems.   The man who owns the yard near me lets me in when ever I want because he knows that Im one of the few who actually buy stuff off of these dinosaurs.  LOL.

He says most yards are crushing them early for the metal value only.  They only want late model cars to part out.  I missed out on a 74 Sedan DeVille with factory ACRS.  I told the owner to save it for me, but by the time I got back one of the other guys didnt get that message and it was gone to the crusher.   So sad indeed.

There is a 76 Eldorado convertible in there now, a nice shiny Firethorn one.   But it had been picked pretty clean before arrival.  But body has a lot of cracked filler showing so it is probably not worth saving.
