29 Wire Wheels - Buffalo?

Being a relatively new owner of a 29 Cadillac, I have had someone refer to the wire wheels on my car as Buffalo wheels. Could someone educate me on this and are the hubs (particularly the rear) referred to the same. I am trying to find a left rear hub that bolts to the brake drum - mine has the teeth ( notches) excessively worn and the wheel slips when starting out. Thanks!

David - Yes, the wheels on the 1929 Cadillac were made by Buffalo, and the hubs would be called Buffalo wheel hubs.  As you must already know, a special wrench is needed to remove Buffalo hubcaps, and they must be tightened securely to prevent stripping the drive splines.  Buffalo wheels and hubs show up at swap meets like Hershey or Chickasha occasionally.  Paul

Thanks Paul. Fortunately, the hub wrench was with the car when I bought it. Are there any identifying markings on the Buffalo hub other than the size and splines? The hubs must be hard to come by as I have not had much response to my postings here. Thanks again!

David - Unfortunately, Im not a Buffalo wheel expert, so you now know as much as I do about them.  To the best of my knowledge, the hubs were specific to the car that used the wheels.  Someone out there must know much more about the details.  Paul
